LoCoSoy – Developing a soybean value chain in Flanders
This research project investigates the development of an organic soybean value chain in Flanders. Working with actors throughout the chain, it analyses the opportunities and potential barriers.
Presentation
This project, funded by the Flemish Government, aimed to investigate and contribute to the development of an organic soybean value chain in Flanders, Belgium.
It gathered several economic actors (organic farmers from the Biograno group, La Vie Est Belle and Colruyt Group) and research organisations (ILVO, INAGRO, Flanders Food & Sytra). The project focussed on every step of the value chain, from agronomic practices and innovations at the production stage to processing options and consumer interest at the retail and consumption stages.
At Sytra, we focussed on the whole value chain perspective, e.g. mapping the functioning of the value chain and its different challenges, and investigating the implementation of fair prices and fair relationships within the value chain. The following report (in Dutch) presents the main results of this work, also summarised by Flanders Food on the following link.
